IMSU cut off mark for Business Administration 2025 Admission

Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri, has released its updated admission cut-off marks for the 2025/2026 academic year.

This guide will help you understand everything you need to know about gaining admission into the Department of Business Administration.

What is IMSU’s general JAMB cut-off score?

For the 2025/2026 session, IMSU requires candidates to score at least 170 in JAMB UTME to qualify for the post-UTME screening. If you scored 169 or less, you won’t be eligible to apply.

Is Business Administration one of the courses with a higher cut-off?

Yes. Business Administration is a popular programme under IMSU’s Faculty of Management Sciences. As such, it requires a higher cut-off than the general 170 score.

While IMSU hasn’t released exact departmental marks for each course publicly, past data and admission trends show competitive management courses attract JAMB scores of at least 200 .

What is the estimated JAMB cut-off for Business Administration?

Based on previous departmental data (e.g., Business Management entry at ~200), it’s safe to estimate the JAMB mark for Business Administration in 2025 will be around 200–210.

This fits the trend of examining similar programmes in past cycles.

What happens if I score between 170–199?

If you score between 170 and 199:

  • You are eligible to sit for the Post-UTME screening.

  • However, you may not meet the Departmental cut-off for Business Administration, so your aggregate may be too low for admission.

  • In this situation, you can still write Post-UTME and be considered for other programmes whose cut-offs fall within your score range (e.g., Microbiology, English, Sociology).

How is the final admission score calculated?

IMSU uses a weighted aggregate formula:

  • JAMB (50%)

  • Post-UTME (30%)

  • O’Level results (20%)

This means even a strong JAMB score must be supported by a solid post-UTME result and good O’Level grades to secure admission.

What O’Level subjects are required for Business Administration?

Candidates must have five (5) credit passes in:

  • English Language

  • Mathematics

  • Economics (or Commerce)

  • Plus any two of: Accounting, Government, or Business-related subjects

These results must come from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB and be obtained in not more than two sittings.

What if I didn’t meet the Business Admin cut-off?

Here are your options:

  • Write Post-UTME and apply to courses whose requirements match your score.

  • If Business Admin is your goal, consider retaking JAMB to score upward of 200.

  • Apply for other programmes, like Mass Communication or Marketing—these often accept JAMB scores between 180 and 200.

  • Explore state or private universities where Business Administration cut-offs may be lower.

When and how do I apply?

  1. Confirm your JAMB score is 170+ to get the Post-UTME form.

  2. Register on the IMSU portal, usually opening from August to September.

  3. Write the Post-UTME test and aim for a high score to boost your overall aggregate.

  4. Apply to courses you’re eligible for, including Business Administration (if you meet the estimated 200+ cut-off).

  5. Check your O’Level results and ensure they include the required subjects.
